This is my second piece in this series of Coke bottles.
A couple from Indiana saw my piece titled "Moore Coke" that I had created for Michael Moore several years ago. The Kruger's hometown was the site of a bottling plant during WWII and so they wanted to depict a very specific bottle that she had found. It was slightly different than many of the other bottles of that era.
She provided the bottle for reference and I salvaged some boards from an old cabin on our property and voila - Indie Coke..
I am thrilled to announce that I am participating in the Artist's Market at the Hartwell Art Center again this year.
Last year, I sold out of my animal notecards 3 times.. My printer was working overtime! This year I have a new professional printer so I will have them in stock and not have to race about if and hopefully they sell out again!
My cousin's wife Annette Goodman is an amazing photographer. She took some beautiful shots of some of the barns at the farm. She has commissioned me to create a painting based on her photograph of barn #5..aka the Big Red Barn. Not only it is a great composition - but she also likes the watercolor/acrylic sketchy style that I think will work really well with this subject matter. I am canvas shopping now and I think we are going with a 24" x 24" so it will be a fairly large piece when it is all said and done!
I am so excited to be working on a painting of Athens. Capturing UGA in the 90's. It is a gift from a group of friends for a 40th birthday gift!
This painting is in progress but you can see where we are headed... I think the Indigo Girls or Dave Matthews Band will be on the marquee and streets will be filled with people probably wearing enormous T shirts with khakis....
I am so excited to have the chance to create my next piece. As you know I love figure drawing and my latest commission involves taking my figures to the next level. I have been commissioned to creat a large piece for the Wyper's entry way - 48" x 60" ...yes it is enormous,,,
It will be full of warm rose, gold green and greys.....pretty much the farrow and ball swatch set ...and feature a very subtle reclining female figure.

I salvaged some boards from an old cabin on our property and created the canvas from this piece.
The show at High Cotton was an enormous success - so much so that I have had a moment to post the pictures form the event. It was lots of fun and I received wide variety of commissions which will show up on my blog as I work on them through out the fall!

I have been commissioned to create a painting to hang over the fireplace in my client's den. She initially contacted me after seeing the " The Birds and the Bees". The only guidelines were a few key colors and horses..maybe more then one. I am so excited about this project - Free rein has a new meaning.
The space above the fireplace is roughly the same dimensions so we are going with a 36" x 24" canvas. My reference is this photograph that Gillian Maudlin took of George and I a few years back.

I have been commissioned to create an abstract piece for a lovely historic home in Sherwood forest.. This piece will hang along the entry hall. The subject of this piece will be a reclining female figure... but it will be subtle play of rosy hues and light that will draw visitors into the hall and back to soul of house. A friend of mine offered to be my model and of course Arthur wanted to be involved too.... They both fell asleep.
Update -> I just bought a 48" x 60" canvas for this piece! - Look out wall here we come.

I am pleased to announce that I will be having a show down at Burge Plantation this coming September. I will be featuring my sporting art. Burge is an historic 1000 acre farm in eastern Newton County, Georgia. It is a private hunting, shooting club as well as an organic farm. It is a perfect setting to showcase this line of my work. More details to come..
In between several other projects I have in the works this summer, I have been painting two pieces for my parent's farm house. This is a photo of the progress I have made on the first of the pair. This is a familiar view around five o'clock every day...when the horses come up from the big pasture to the barn. The other painting will feature the view of the barn with one horse awaiting out at the arrival of his barn mates. They are both 22" x 28" watercolors on Rives BFK print making paper and will be hung of either side of a pair of large windows overlooking the hayfield.
This week I am spending more time on the computer focusing on the business end of things than at the easel...Alas, It is necessary every so often. I thought I would share a picture of my work setup. It is a little bit of old, a little bit of new and a little bit of Arthur.
These happy pups are still in progress but are too cute not to share anyway...
My recent show at BD Jefferies was a great success! Thank you to BD Jefferies for hosting me and to all who stopped by to see my work....especially to these new furry friends!
