Back in the Swing of Things
I took the summer off following the birth of our second son! It has been an adventure having a newborn and a three year old. I am slowly getting back in the swing of things. Here are a few of the portraits from this past months.
Pressing Pause...
With the birth of my second child due any day now, I am going to be pressing pause on any new commissioned artwork for the next few months.
However, I am going to be keeping my "Pen in the Ink" so to speak - as I have eight 5" x 5" canvases for a collection of small works which I will work on in my free time..or rather just to keep me sane. I will be make these available in the fall. Keep an eye out for sneak peaks via Instagram and Facebook this summer!

The Process.....
some old school Pen & Inks
I had several commissions for paintings of family homes this year for Christmas presents. They spanned the east coast -All the way from Albany, Georgia up to Dedham, Massachusetts. I decided for old times sake to break out my pen nib and a bottle of ink!
The Fairbanks House
Thin Line
Another pair of paintings - 6" x 6" x 1.5" acrylic, molding paste, and gold leaf on canvas
These were created as a pair though they will not be shown together. My client will keep one and then give the other one to her best friend for Christmas. ..sort of a grown up friendship charm. You have one half and I have the other....This one is called "Thin Line" which is a nod at the Indigo Girls song on the 12:00 Curfew Album. There is a thin line in there if you look close. (I tend to listen to them when painting anything for my high school friends.)..

Equine Coat Color Series....
Equine Coat Color Series- I am indulging my horsey dorkiness.
When I was young, my sister gave me The Horse Encyclopedia. I poured over it for years - literally - it is still on my bedside table. I especially loved the pages with all the variations of coat color. I decided to embark on a series depicting all the various colors. In the past, we have had quite a wide spectrum of colors that have gone through our barn; a palomino, strawberry roan, buckskin, dappled grey, several sorrels /chestnuts, various degrees of bays and a flea bitten grey.
Here are the first three in the series....in progress.
