Introducing Naomi Von Habersham

Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles has a regular column “Around Town with Naomi Von Habersham “ Naomi is fictitious character under whose guise anonymous contributors discuss trends and style in Atlanta. She is an older Atlantan and she comments on the new vs old Atlanta. She is quite witty and quite often painfully blunt. I have always enjoyed reading her column so I was thrilled when the magazine contacted me to give her a fresh look.

Below you can see some of my earlier sketches and versions as well as the final. She is scheduled to make her “debut” in the November issue of Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles.

In Progress ….

My current commission is for a classic - 1950’s Chevy pickup truck on a whitewashed door. I have done several paintings on reclaimed wood that I have salvaged from various old buildings on my parent’s farm. This door came from an old dilapidated cabin and it is super heavy. I can not imagine opening and closing this every day. Since it is so unwieldy, I am painting it outside at the farm. The mosquitoes have made this one a rather slow process - Thank goodness- Fall is closing in!!!
