When I was thinking of the subject of my new series, I was at a fork in the road. Most of my work is commissioned based so I tend to draw a wide range of subjects and have requests for many different types of series. So while enjoy painting the variety I wanted to concentrate on a subject that really spoke to me. If you take one look at the all the photos on my phone you will find a large number of my photos (that aren’t of my children) are simply views of the sky….so I decided to explore clouds in this latest series. My grandmother loved watching the clouds so perhaps she passed that awe inspiring appreciation down to me. In this particular release - I focused on the skies on a drive across Georgia. It was during hurricane season when the tail end of the hurricane was on its last turn — the gray clouds are swirling away to reveal the blue sky behind them. There are 10 paintings in all - beginning in with a “polyptych” or four grouped paintings in Dewy Rose then moving on to Madison -> Gray -> Fort Valley -> Plains -> Bluffton -> Thomasville. Cover illustration for the CDC’s Center for Global Health Responds to Outbreaks

I am thrilled to announce the publication of the CDC’s Center for Global Health 2020 Outbreak Report. I was selected to create a cover for this publication for the annual report focusing on the COVID-19 pandemic. The elements in this painting are used throughout the annual report and website. The image leans toward fine art rather than medical illustration. Each dot is unique as is each individual case of COVID and its repercussions in our committees. While this version was created digitally, I also created a large acrylic painting which will be housed in the David J. Sencer CDC Museum.
